2 NOV 26 SITREP

  • Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal, a court compared to the United States Supreme Court, became the center of a confrontation in Warsaw over an alleged attempt to replace conservative judges with judges aligned with Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government. Conservative groups gathered outside to oppose the changes, while Tusk called for riot police to secure the building after claims of a security threat.
  • Polish President Karol Nawrocki had been traveling to a meeting in Senegal when the confrontation unfolded. Supporters cut through barricades with a masonry saw, and Nawrocki pushed through the remaining obstructions and entered the court building, challenging the effort to block access.
  • Polish European Parliament member Dominik Tarczyński alleged that control of the Constitutional Tribunal would allow Tusk’s allies to move against the Supreme Court, President Karol Nawrocki, and the leadership of Poland’s national bank. He argued that these changes would remove obstacles to replacing the Polish zloty with the euro and transferring Poland’s gold to the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • Tarczyński connected the dispute to opposition to sending illegal migrants from Germany into Poland and said demonstrators maintained a presence in the streets for 24 hours a day. Supporters brought kielbasa and Polish soups to sustain the protests, which he said united conservative parties and brought previously less politically involved people into opposition to Tusk’s government.
  • VOICE is a federal office under Immigration and Customs Enforcement that helps victims of crimes linked to immigration obtain assistance and navigate immigration matters. Executive director Joe Abraham said Donald Trump established the office in 2017, Joe Biden closed it in 2021, and Trump reopened it in 2025.
  • Abraham became involved in victim advocacy after his daughter Katie Abraham was killed by an illegal immigrant on January 19, 2025. He said authorities in Illinois handled the offender’s state crimes but left his family without the guidance and broader support they needed afterward, including help understanding the immigration side of the case.
  • With VOICE unavailable when Katie Abraham was killed, Joe Abraham made repeated calls while grieving and struggling to determine where to turn. He eventually reached Department of Homeland Security personnel who helped him, and he said access to VOICE would have given his family a central office to approach instead of having to search for assistance themselves.
  • Abraham said he challenged Democratic representatives during congressional testimony when they emphasized GDP and economic growth in immigration discussions. He alleged that border security, vetting, and health screening had failed in Katie Abraham’s case and argued that economic benefits could not justify sacrificing the safety of his family or leaving victims without support.
  • The Zizians are a group originating in Silicon Valley, California, whose name comes from Ziz, the alias used by leader Jack LaSota. Investigative journalist Andy Ngo alleged that the group recruited highly gifted people, including former mathematics prodigies, through effective altruism and concerns about existential risks from artificial intelligence before members became increasingly radicalized.
  • Ngo alleged that members moved into communes, cut off outside relationships, and conducted human experiments connected to their beliefs about gender. He identified militant veganism, anarchism, and leftist politics as elements of the group’s ideology and said members promoted small cells called affinity groups, treating preemptive killings as self-defense against what they believed was an ongoing transgender genocide.
  • The Zizians were allegedly linked to at least 8 known deaths. Ngo accused members of prolonging California court proceedings by filing motions alleging transphobia against judges, sheriff’s deputies, and other law enforcement personnel, buying time to fake their deaths, hide, and move between jurisdictions while further violence occurred.
  • Ngo recounted an incident in which a Zizian member slashed a landlord with knives and was shot dead during the attack. He said United States Senate Democrats subsequently included that individual in a resolution honoring transgender murder victims, while the Department of Justice had recently sought research grant applications examining a possible relationship between gender dysphoria and violence.

FINAL WORD
The fight over Poland’s courts, the abandonment of Joe Abraham’s family after his daughter Katie Abraham was killed by an illegal immigrant, and the alleged violence tied to the Zizians put the duty to protect citizens at the center of government. Trump’s reopening of VOICE restored help for victims after Biden closed the office, while the Justice Department’s research effort addresses questions about violence raised by the Zizian cases. From defending Poland’s courts to supporting American victims and pursuing violent offenders, public officials must put citizens’ safety ahead of political agendas.
