• The United States called off a planned airstrike against Iran, a strike President Trump stated would have been harder than any attack the United States has launched since World War II, after Iran, backed by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, contacted the U.S. requesting talks focused on the Strait of Hormuz and the denuclearization of Iran.
• Trump also outlined two phases of negotiation: Phase One requires Iran to fully open the Strait of Hormuz to unrestricted navigation with a target deadline of the following day, and Phase Two requires the full denuclearization of Iran, which Trump stated must happen without exception and has been a condition he has never wavered on.
