1. The U.S.-Iran Peace Deal
President Trump confirmed at the G7 summit in France that the peace deal with Iran has already been finalized and digitally signed, with the Strait of Hormuz already partially reopened and crews actively clearing mines discovered in the waterway, with full commercial shipping access expected by Friday.
Trump reported that commercial ships are already beginning to transit the Strait, oil prices are falling, and stock markets are rising sharply in direct response to the announcement, stating that ships are going out now and that by Friday the Strait will be completely opened.
Vice President Vance confirmed the deal was signed digitally and described it as a phased, performance-based framework in which sanctions relief will follow specific verified Iranian actions, including elimination of enriched nuclear material stockpiles and acceptance of a verification regime, with no sanctioned funds released at the time of signing.
Vance stated that Iran’s economy and nuclear program are both fundamentally destroyed, framing the deal as a win-win in which Iran will be welcomed into the world economy if it complies, while noting that without sanctions relief Iran lacks the financial resources to rebuild its nuclear program regardless.
2. UFC Freedom 250 At The White House
For the first time in American history, the White House South Lawn was transformed into a UFC fight venue as President Trump hosted UFC Freedom 250 yesterday evening to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary and his own 80th birthday, with thousands in attendance, the Zac Brown Band and the Joint Armed Forces Chorus performing the National Anthem, and Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds conducting flyovers.
American fighter Justin Gaethje defeated undefeated Georgian-Spanish lightweight champion Ilia Topuria in the main event after Topuria was unable to continue due to extensive facial injuries, with Gaethje carrying an American flag into the Octagon following his victory and drawing a parallel between his upset win and the nation’s founding.
Medal of Honor recipients and first responders escorted fighters to the Octagon before each bout throughout the evening, while fighters including Bo Nickal and Josh Hokit used post-fight interviews to praise Trump directly from inside the Octagon, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was spotted speaking with Trump and posing for photographs alongside UFC President Dana White during a break in the action.
A federal judge declined to halt the event after two Virginia residents filed a legal challenge arguing the White House had improperly granted a private sports promotion access to government property, with Justice Department attorneys arguing the plaintiffs had waited too long to file and that the lawsuit sought to impose their preferences on an event designed to celebrate the United States, and the evening concluded with Trump entering the Octagon to congratulate Gaethje as fireworks lit the sky above the White House.
3. DOJ Investigations Into California Governor Gavin Newsom And His Wife
California Governor Gavin Newsom publicly claimed that the Trump administration’s Department of Justice is investigating both him and his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom, alleging that DOJ operatives have been approaching his associates in an effort to find a crime and are digging through years of documents, which he characterized as an abuse of the grand jury process.
A source familiar with the matter told Semafor that there are several ongoing investigations related to Newsom, with the investigations focused specifically on his wife’s taxes and his chief of staff, and that the investigations did not originate from the main DOJ office but rather out of Sacramento and involve whistleblowers.
Newsom accused Trump of placing him on a political enemies list and of targeting his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a public servant, in order to intimidate him, stating that if Trump’s operatives want to find corruption they should look at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and further accusing Trump and his sons of selling the presidency through golf course approvals, private jets, and cryptocurrency ventures in countries where the administration is simultaneously making policy.
Newsom alleged the investigation is designed to undermine a potential 2028 presidential bid, stating that Trump is targeting him because he is considering running for president and has repeatedly called out Trump publicly, while inviting the DOJ to subpoena his records and investigate him but demanding his wife and family be left out of what he called a personal vendetta.
FINAL WORD
The U.S.-Iran peace deal, the UFC Freedom 250 event, and the DOJ investigations into Newsom together demonstrate the Trump administration operating on diplomatic, cultural, and political fronts simultaneously. Executive power is being deployed abroad through dealmaking, domestically through national celebration, and internally through federal investigative pressure on a problematic Democrat. Across all fronts, the administration is actively reshaping the boundaries of American power at every level.
On today's episode of Human Events Daily, America's official 250th birthday party has begun. 20 days of revelry, celebration, patriotism, and displays of military might. All of this started last night at the White House where the UFC Freedom 250 event took place.
