1. Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Investigation Enters Day Six
Nancy Guthrie, identified as the mother of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, remained missing as the search entered day six in Arizona in an area described as north of Tucson in Pima County.
The FBI confirmed the first deadline referenced in an alleged ransom note expired, and law enforcement identified a next deadline set for Monday while describing the situation as racing against the clock.
Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb described the location as remote outskirts terrain rather than the center of town, emphasizing it was not an area where someone would casually drive by and notice the house.
BORTAC, a specialized Border Patrol unit described as proficient in tracking using footprints, tire tracks, and infrared detection, was called in to assist the search in the desert environment where nighttime cold and darkness were described as severe.
2. Senator Elissa Slotkin Rejects DOJ Inquiry Over “Illegal Orders” Video
Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) said on social media on Thursday that she would not comply with a Department of Justice inquiry seeking an interview about a 90 second “illegal orders” video she and other Democratic lawmakers filmed in November.
Slotkin said she sent a letter to Attorney General Bondi and to Department of Justice lawyer in DC Janine Pirro stating she would not sit for an interview, and urging them to retain their records on the case in case she decides to sue for infringement of her constitutional rights.
Slotkin described the November video as a restating of current law asserting uniformed military have a responsibility to refuse illegal orders, while President Donald Trump said Slotkin, Senator Mark Kelly, and Representatives Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander, Chrissy Houlahan, Jason Crow, and others should be arrested for sedition.
Slotkin’s lawyer sent a separate letter to Bondi stating Slotkin would decline an FBI interview and that the DOJ inquiry should be terminated, while Slotkin claimed the inquiry involved physical and legal intimidation intended to deter criticism of the administration and warned that if it can be done to a sitting senator it can be done to community leaders, business leaders, and private individuals.
3. Algerian Gold Medal Winning Women’s Olympic Boxer Imane Khelif Admits To Being Male
Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer who won gold in the women’s welterweight division at the 2024 Paris Olympics, admitted in an interview with French outlet L’Equipe to having XY chromosomes and the SRY gene located on the Y chromosome.
L’Equipe reported Khelif has a female phenotype, while Khelif stated “Yes, and it’s natural,” denied being transgender, and said, “I’m not trans, I’m a girl,” describing being raised and known as a girl in the athlete’s village.
Khelif referenced lowering testosterone levels for competitions and said, “For the qualifying tournament for the Paris Games, which took place in Dakar, I lowered my testosterone level to zero,” while L’Equipe reported the average testosterone level for biological women lies between 0.3 and 3 nanomoles per liter of blood.
Following Khelif’s Olympic win, World Boxing announced all athletes would be required to undergo sex testing to determine gender eligibility and told the Algerian Boxing Federal that Khelif would be barred from competing in the women’s category at the Eindhoven Box Cup and any other World Boxing event until Khelif underwent a genetic sex screening test.
FINAL WORD
These events collectively show institutions using formal authority to set boundaries on conduct and compliance across public life. The consequences unfold through enforcement mechanisms that rely on coordination, documentation, and eligibility standards rather than persuasion alone. Together, they demonstrate how conflicts over rules, rights, and access are increasingly resolved through layered systems operating across local, federal, and international levels.
On today's episode of Human Events Daily, we are just days away from the Turning Point USA All-American halftime show. And I'm calling on everyone to go out and be the force multiplier for this cultural event. This is going to be a cultural turning point.
